Al-Alim
العليم
Name of Allah
The All-Knowing — whose knowledge encompasses all things, seen and unseen, often paired with Al-Hakim.
Overview
Al-'Alim — the All-Knowing, the Omniscient — is the name of Allah whose knowledge encompasses everything: "He is, of all things, Knowing" (2:29). It is frequently paired with Al-Hakim, the Wise, as when the angels confess, "Indeed, it is You who is the Knowing, the Wise" (2:32), and when Yaqub places his hope in Allah to return his sons (12:83).
When Ibrahim and Ismail raised the foundations of the House they prayed to Allah as the Hearing, the Knowing (2:127).
