Ar-Rahim
الرحيم
Name of Allah
The Especially Merciful — the name of Allah's particular, bestowed mercy, most often paired with Ar-Rahman or Al-Ghafur.
Overview
Ar-Rahim — the Especially Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy — shares its root with Ar-Rahman and is paired with it in the basmala and in 1:3 and 2:163. Commentators commonly distinguish the two as mercy in its all-encompassing essence (Rahman) and mercy as it reaches particular recipients (Rahim).
The name appears very frequently at the close of ayat, often alongside Al-Ghafur — as when Musa is forgiven after his prayer: "Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful" (28:16).
