The sacred valley where Musa was first addressed by Allah and commanded to remove his sandals.

Overview

Tuwa is the sacred valley where Musa, having seen a fire, was called by name and told: "Indeed, I am your Lord, so remove your sandals. Indeed, you are in the sacred valley of Tuwa" (20:12). The valley is named again in 79:16. The Quran places the fire Musa saw in the direction of the Mount (28:29).

The Quran places the fire Musa saw "from the direction of the mount" and the call at the right side of the valley, which is why the sacred valley is usually located at the Mount. The text does not state the identification outright.
