Exodus of Bani Israel
خروج بني إسرائيل
Deliverance · Event
Musa leads Bani Israel out of Egypt by night; the sea is parted for them and closes over Pharaoh and his army.
Overview
Allah revealed to Musa: "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued" (26:52). Pharaoh's forces caught up with them at the sea, and Musa's companions cried that they were overtaken (26:61). Musa answered: "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me" (26:62). He was commanded to strike the sea with his staff, and it parted, each side like a great mountain (26:63). Bani Israel crossed; Pharaoh and his army followed and were drowned (26:66, 2:50).
The Quran recalls this deliverance to Bani Israel directly — "We parted the sea for you and saved you and drowned the people of Pharaoh while you were looking on" (2:50) — and tells it again in Ta-Ha (20:77–79).
