Harun

هارون

Prophet · Quranic figure

Aaron — brother of Musa, made a prophet to support him before Pharaoh and among Bani Israel.

Overview

Harun (Aaron) is the brother of Musa. When Musa was commissioned at the sacred valley he asked for Harun as a helper, describing him as more eloquent (28:34), and Allah granted the request and made Harun a prophet (19:53, 20:36). The two were sent together to Pharaoh (20:42–43).

While Musa was at the Mount for his appointment, Harun was left in charge of Bani Israel and warned them against worshipping the calf, reminding them that their Lord is Ar-Rahman (20:90).
